The Best Beaches and Coves Around Olympos: Which One Suits You?

Instead of asking “which cove is the most beautiful?”, ask “what kind of sea day do I want?”. Olympos, reached through an ancient city, and Suluada, reached by boat, don't answer the same need.
History and swimming: Olympos
Olympos Beach's strength is its setting. To get there you walk among Lycian and Roman remains. The narrow valley where the river meets the sea and the forested mountains create a dramatic landscape. It's not an easy car-park-and-sunbed day; it's for people who like walking and exploring.
A long, quiet shore: Çıralı
Çıralı is easygoing for sunrise and long beach walks. Being a sea turtle nesting site shapes how you visit: keep away from nests, don't use lights at night and don't leave holes in the sand. Its value lies not only in looking clean but in being a living ecosystem.
Families and activities: Adrasan
The sheltered bay appeals to all ages. Some parts are shallow, and on calm mornings you can kayak or paddleboard. It's also the hub for Suluada and the cove tours. The downside is the crowds in high season.
The photogenic island: Suluada
Its brilliant water and pale little beaches make it hugely photographed. But there are no facilities or shade on the island; the experience depends on the boat and the sea. In summer the crowds may not match the “deserted island” expectation.
A forested coast: Porto Ceneviz
The lack of easy land access is what makes this cove different. The most practical way is by boat from Adrasan. If you see a seal or a turtle, don't approach; cut the engine noise and keep your distance.
Snorkeling: Akseki
It's a short break in clear water rather than a long beach day. Water shoes and a mask help. Stay within the limits set amid the boat traffic.
An ancient harbour: Phaselis
The pine-shaded bays attract families, but this is first and foremost an archaeological site. Don't climb on the ruins or light fires. The best order is to explore the city in the morning and swim afterwards.
Quick comparison
| You want | Choose | Why? |
|---|---|---|
| History + sea | Olympos, Phaselis | Ruins and shore on the same route |
| A long, quiet beach | Çıralı | A wide shore for walking |
| Family day | Adrasan, Phaselis in good weather | Sheltered sections |
| Boat trip and photos | Suluada | Island and open-sea colours |
| A natural cove | Porto Ceneviz | A skyline far from any road |
| Snorkeling | Akseki | Rocky surroundings, clear water |
| A small cove by road | Papaz Cove | Access via Karaöz |
Cutting down on single-use plastic, throwing nothing overboard, keeping away from turtles and seals and staying out of the caves are basic responsibilities. The measure of a good visit to a beautiful cove is leaving no trace behind.
