Sheltered from the wind, Adrasan Bay is one of the best places in the region for kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) on calm days. Ringed by forested mountains, the bay is often glassy in the morning; even a short paddle along the shore can be one of the most peaceful moments of the day.
When and how
- Best time: In the morning, before the wind picks up. Paddling gets harder once the afternoon breeze arrives.
- Equipment: In season, some businesses on the beach rent kayaks and SUP boards. Always ask for a life jacket.
- Route: If you're a beginner, choose a short route parallel to the shore.
Safety
- Keep away from the boat departure lane at the south end of the beach and from rocky headlands.
- An offshore wind makes the return harder than you expect; check the wind direction before heading out.
- Beginners should not go out alone.
- Bring sunscreen, a hat and water; the sun burns faster than you think on the water.
