Besides Suluada, the other classic route from Adrasan turns north around the cape and follows the steep coast between Adrasan and Olympos. There is no road along this shore; the coves where the slopes of Mount Musa drop into the sea can only be reached by boat. That is why this route is usually less crowded than Suluada and feels wilder.

Stops

  • Akseki Cove: The first swim stop, with clear, calm water that is great for snorkeling.
  • Love Cave: A sea cave the boat approaches closely; when the sea is calm you can swim inside.
  • Sazak Cove: A wide cove ringed by pine forest, where lunch is usually served.
  • Ceneviz Cove: The farthest and most famous stop. It is named after the Genoese merchants who dominated Mediterranean trade in the Middle Ages, and sailors also call it Porto Genoese. Its black mud is believed to be good for the skin, so the favourite ritual is to coat yourself, let it dry and rinse off in the sea.

Why choose this route?

Ceneviz is about an hour by boat from Adrasan or Çıralı and lies inside Beydağları Coastal National Park as a first-degree natural protected area. There are no businesses on the shore. Loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta) are often seen in these waters; with luck, one will swim past the boat. The slopes of Mount Musa are said to resemble a camel's silhouette, and captains love pointing it out.

Practical information

Departure and return times are similar to the Suluada tours: leaving around 09:30–10:00 and returning in the late afternoon. Lunch (usually fish, pasta and salad, then fruit and tea) is generally included. Wear an old swimsuit for the mud bath, since the black mud can stain light fabrics.

For more on the coves along the route, see our Akseki Cove, Sazak Cove and Ceneviz Cove pages. The exact stops depend on the day's weather, waves and the captain's safety decisions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose the Suluada tour or the coves tour?
Pick Suluada for the brilliant white shores and turquoise water you see in photos. Pick the coves route for quieter, forest-fringed bays, sea caves and the mud bath. If you are staying several days, doing both on different days is best.
Can Ceneviz Cove be reached by land?
No, there is no road to Ceneviz Cove; it can only be reached by boat. It takes about an hour from Adrasan or Çıralı.
Is the mud bath really good for the skin?
It is a popular belief that Ceneviz's black mud is good for the skin and relaxing, but we don't know of any scientific study confirming it. The experience itself is fun; if your skin is sensitive, test a small area first.
Will I see sea turtles?
Loggerhead turtles are often seen in these waters, but as wild animals there is no guarantee. If you see one, don't chase, touch or feed it.
How long is the tour?
Tours usually start around 09:30–10:00 and finish around 16:30–17:00, so expect a 6–7 hour day.
I'm staying in Çıralı. Can I visit these coves from there?
Yes. Boats from Çıralı and Olympos also visit Ceneviz, Sazak and Aquarium coves. See our Çıralı–Olympos Boat Tour page for details.
When is it quietest?
Weekdays and the shoulder seasons, such as May–June and September–October, are generally calmer.
